BOARD OF DIRECTORS

MIKAEL KARLSSON – CHAIRMAN

Mikael is the Co Head of Actis Energy business. He has over 25 years of experience in investing in and managing power businesses.

Mikael became a Partner at Actis in 2012 and Co-Head of Energy in 2015. He was CEO of Globeleq (a Fund 2 portfolio company) from 2009 until the sale of Globeleq Africa in 2015 and played a key role in Fund initial investments during 2002/03. Mikael previously had a long career with ABB Energy Ventures, where he held a number of senior positions including head of global development and investments and chair of the investment committee.

Mikael holds a Masters in Science degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Linkoping Institute of Technology in Sweden and MBA from the University of Massachusetts in the U.S.

SANJIV AGGARWAL – DIRECTOR

Sanjiv is a partner in Actis and is responsible for energy investing in Asia.

Sanjiv joined Actis’s India team in 2008 and is responsible for Actis’s energy industry activities in Asia. Sanjiv led Actis’s investment in GVK Energy, a leading power company in India. Prior to joining Actis, Sanjiv worked at Citigroup for eight years, where he worked extensively in the Indian infrastructure sector, culminating as Head of Power, Energy, Chemicals, Mining and Transportation for India. Prior to Citigroup, Sanjiv worked at ANZ Investment Bank for nine years, where he headed the project finance team for urban infrastructure and oil and gas and was Head of Eastern India.

Sanjiv holds a Bachelor of Technology from the Indian School of Mines and an MBA from the Xavier Labour Relations Institute.

JM TRIVEDI – DIRECTOR

JM Trivedi is based in Mumbai. He was one of the founding partners of Actis LLP, an emerging markets PE firm managing nearly $7bn. He has over 32 years of experience in the financial services industry, including 17 years of private equity experience and 12 in development banking. He joined Actis in 1997 and was responsible for setting up the Mumbai office. He has led a number of successful investments, most notably Glenmark, UTI Bank, Sterling Hospital, Paras Pharmaceuticals and Avtec. Prior to joining Actis, he was senior vice president at Gujarat Venture Finance Ltd (GVFL) in India. He joined GVFL in its formative stage and helped it to raise its first three funds.

JM is a chemical engineer from IIT, Bombay and holds a Diploma in Finance from the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India.
